jo and i are chillin' in our room at ramada d'ma hotel in bangkok, enjoying the american luxuries we soon will forfeit. hot showers, plush towels, free wi-fi in the room makes for a very happy first day here in thailand.
we had a very productive day today. found a travel agency and booked our next 9 days in thailand! we'll be taking a bus/boat to ko tao island tomorrow night, arriving the morning after. then diving classes for 4 days (eeeks!). after we get our certification, we're off to ko pha-ngan island for the full moon party. time to rave like it's 2000!
also found out thursdays are championship fight nights at the muay thai boxing arena, so we bought tickets to check it out. i don't think i really knew the difference between muay thai and mma/ufc, so i went expecting a lot of wrestling moves and blood, and came back a little disappointed.
surprisingly, i've only seen one ladyboy today. and only got jipped by a cabbie once.
foods eaten today: free hotel breakfast buffet (waffles AND congee, how great is that?!), basil chicken and rice, street cart fried rice, mcdonalds teriyaki pork burger meal =P
a few pics from today:
tuk tuk ride (excuse our appearance, we're kind of hot sweaty messes here)
not sure why i believed this sign... it was just meh
some temple thing. jo and i decided we're not gonna be those pple who visit every temple, palace, monument, etc... they all same-same.
muay thai boxing. small little fighters with 1% body fat.
unlike the scantly clad ring girls in the states, these thai girls (???) were fully clothed.
